Did you know that cow's milk -- store-bought, pasturized, organic or raw -- may not be the health food we've been taught to believe?
Previously touted as perfect health foods, evidence linking cow's milk and dairy products to a host of modern day ailments and diseases -- from stroke, cancer, diabetes, fibroids, ADHD through to rheumatoid arthritis -- is becoming mainstream news.
But, wait a minute...hold up! Can this really be true?

But, wait a minute...hold up! Can this really be true?
Sharing little-known truths about the bodily damage that so-called 'good for you' foods like milk, cheese and yogurt can cause is a key aspect of my food literacy outreach work.
So many of us regularly consume large quantities of these substances thinking 'this food is good for me' when in fact, the opposite is the reality, and we can, in effect, be causing our bodies a lot more harm than good.
From autism and asthma to cancers (breast & prostrate), Crohns disease and diabetes. From eczema and rhematoid arthritis to iron deficiency anemia, migraines and bedwetting...Medical research dating back over 20 years has linked milk and dairy consumption to innumerable diseases and chronic health conditions.
And yet Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating recommends 2-4 servings of milk or dairy everyday to ensure, they say, that Canadians get enough vitamin D, calcium and protein for strong bones and overall health. (Huh?!) Just goes to show how we sadly put profit over human health in this game called capitalism.
The good news is: we can and do get calcium, protein plus a lot of other vitamins and nutrients from green leafy vegetables and whole food plant-based nutrition.
The problem is too few people have this knowledge!
That's why it's so crucial to get the word out.
Learning the truth about the damage milk and dairy products can do to our bodies is upsetting. Discovering how we are indoctrinated from infancy to consume massive amounts of the stuff is disturbing. Knowing the extent to which the dairy industry has gone to pull wool over my eyes for the sake of profit is enraging.
But after a few deep, calming breaths, I try to put this knowledge to pro-active use. I realize that ultimately I don't need milk and dairy as much as I thought. The human frame does not require and can not handle these processed food so I can cease to put these 'foods' in my body, slowly easing them out of my life and replacing them instead with truly nutritious life-affirming real foods.
